Many wig users make common mistakes while washing wigs that cause them to become terrible and can't even be used anymore. Here are some wig-washing mistakes that should be avoided.
1.No Detangling Before Washing
Like our own hair, the human hair wig must be carefully detangled from root to end before washing or the hair will shed and mat. Before washing, especially for the curly wigs, please use a dime conditioner to spread on your hand and gently to lay the conditioner on a small bath tangle hair to detangle the hair with your hand, do not use the comb to comb it hardly; after you detangle it, starting from the bottom of the wig, gently comb through the hair with a wide tooth comb and your love.
2.Using Hot Water To Wash
Apply tap cold water onto the hair. Do not use any hot/warm water. Firstly, hot water strips your hair of natural oils, especially if the temperature is too high. This will leave your hair with no natural, valuable oil and leave it looking dry and brittle. Secondly, hot water makes your roots weak and as a result, your hair turns frizzy. Additionally, the texture takes a beating and hair can break easily. For curly hair, the hot/warm water might alter the texture. So no matter washing curly wigs or straight wigs, do not use any hot/warm water.
3.Comb Hair When Wet
It is easier to get tangled when wig is in wet condition. The hair is in a very fragile state when it's wet, which make hair become subject to breaking when the hair strands elasticity is low. Do not comb your lace wig when wet, especially 613 blonde wigs, which will cause your wig break, stretch, or frizz. You can let the hair air dry and then comb it gently with a tooth comb. Combing too often when it's dry is also not recommended.
4.Blow Drying The Wig
The strong hot wind of the hair dryer makes hair become dry easily, it’s better to hang the wig on a wig stand to wait for it to air dry. But it’s safe to use hair dryers on human hair wigs, when you don’t have enough time to wait, you can control the temperature to blow dry the human hair wig. Put your blow dryer on the lowest heat setting and point the dryer at your hair system - no closer than 2 or 3 inches to your scalp.
5.Scrub The Wig Too Much
Do not use your nails to scrub your human hair wig, it will damage your wig. Pls be gentle with your human hair wig, or the more you wear it, the more it's damaged. With the correct way, you can wear your human hair wig for a longer time.
6.Use Conditioner To The Roots
Like our own hair, the human hair wig needs conditioner to get nutrition and keep soft, so the conditioner is very important when washing wigs. But if you apply the conditioner to the roots of the hair or the lace area, the hair may become loose and shed easily. For all black wigs and colored wigs, you can gently apply the conditioner to the hair from the upper middle to the ends, then let it stay for at least 5 minutes, and then rinse.
7.Not Wash Often
When you wear a human hair wig, it may tangle due to dryness, oil & dirt build-up, you should wash the wig carefully and regularly. It's recommended to wash & condition your wig twice to three times a week.
